NEPAL JESUITS SOCIETY
Nepal Jesuits Society (NJS) is one of the cooperating partners of QUEST-Nepal in organiging its National conventions on students' quality circles since 2006, the Second National Convention on SQC (2nd NCSQC'06).
The Society of Jesus is an international religious order of Catholic priests and brothers. It was founded in the fifteenth century by a Spanish nobleman Ignatius Loyola with sole purpose of helping men and women to realize their dignity as children of a loving Creator-Father. With almost 20,000 members, the Society of Jesus is the largest religious order in the Catholic Church. All the members (Called “Jesuits”) commit themselves to the service of God and His children by perpetual vows of poverty, chastity and obedience. The Jesuits were invited to Nepal in 1951 to serve in the field of education. Fr. Marshall D. Moran founded St. Xavier’s School in Godavari in July of the year and St. Xavier’s School, Jawalakhel in 1954. Registered with the Nepal Government as the Nepal Jesuit Society (NJS), the Jesuits of nepal have expended the pioneering work of Fr. Moran to include St. Xavier’s College, Maitighar, St. Xavier’s Social Service Centers (Jawalakhel and Nakhipot), Human Resources Development Research Centre (Sanepa), Shishu Bikash Kendra (Pokhara), St. Xavier’s School (Deonia, Jhapa), Moran Memorial School (Mahespur, Jhapa Dt.).
